There are two options for this course:

  1. the course only, or

  2. the course with a 1:1 individual online editing session of your project (1 hour on Miro).

If you are interested in the second option, please select the appropriate purchase choice. I will then contact you with my availability to schedule the online meeting and provide instructions on how and where to upload your project images. You can upload up to 50 images.

During the session, we will sequence your photographs and create a layout.

This course guides you step-by-step through the essentials of turning a series of photographs into a real photobook — from sequence and layout, to binding and a finished dummy. First, we cover sequencing (both analogue and digital, using Miro) to structure your images as a coherent visual narrative. Then we move on to layout design — learning how to design spreads, think about flow, pacing, and how images work together in book format. Finally, the course introduces book-binding techniques: how to create a book physically, using concertina, pamphlet, Japanese, or coptic-stitch binding. At the end, you’ll have worked through concept, editing, layout, and binding — and produced a dummy photobook ready for further development or printing.

What People Say

“Workshop with Tomasz allowed me to really put a new work in motion – his generous and precise insight brought a fresh dynamic as well as a new formal approach to the pictures. Since, the project has been shown in two exhibitions and has received a grant to produce the book!”

— Matilda Holloway

"I took Tomasz Laczny’s online Photobookmaking workshop and it was far beyond what I expected. The course was well structured, easy to follow and just the right length and amount of students. Most importantly, Tomasz took great interest in our projects by helping brainstorm ideas for the organization, narrative and physical construction of the books. His demonstrations were clear and concise. Ultimately, his vast experience in the filed and willingness to sincerely share his knowledge makes this course an invaluable resource for anyone dreaming of creating an artist photo book.”
